Elbphilharmonie Hamburg: Modern glass and brick concert hall.

Excerpt from Wikipedia

As of June 12, 2020: The Elbphilharmonie (also known as "Elphi") is a concert hall in Hamburg, completed in November 2016. It was designed with the aim of creating a new landmark for the city and a "cultural monument for everyone." The 110-meter-high building in the HafenCity district is located on the right bank of the Norderelbe river at the tip of the Großer Grasbrook peninsula, between the mouths of the Sandtorhafen and Grasbrookhafen harbor basins. It was constructed incorporating the shell of the former Kaispeicher A warehouse (built in 1963). A modern structure with a glass facade reminiscent of sails, waves, icebergs, or a quartz crystal was placed on this base. The location at Kaiserhöft is characterized by the former industrial port use and the neo-Gothic brick architecture of the Speicherstadt (warehouse district).

The building's completion, originally planned for 2010 after several years of planning, was repeatedly delayed, partly due to an 18-month construction halt in the public sector. Construction resumed only after a comprehensive project reorganization between the architects, the client, and the construction company shortly after the election of Mayor Olaf Scholz. The delays and cost overruns brought the Elbphilharmonie national attention long before its completion: the final construction costs, at approximately €866 million, were more than 11.24 times the original budget of €77 million. The agreed-upon completion and handover date of October 31, 2016, stipulated in the new contract, was met. The concert hall was inaugurated on January 11 and 12, 2017, with the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra's concert "Time Becomes Space" (concert program). The Recital Hall was inaugurated by Ensemble Resonanz on January 12, 2017. In the first year after its opening, around 850,000 people attended the more than 600 concerts at the Elbphilharmonie, over 4.5 million visitors flocked to the Plaza, more than 70,000 people took part in concert hall tours, and over 60,000 participated in the hall's music education program.

Hotel Location next to Hanseatic Trade Center and Kehrwiederspitze. The four-star-plus hotel "The Westin Hamburg" with 244 rooms is located in the eastern part of the building, on floors 6 to 20. It is operated by the Westin Hotels & Resorts chain, which belongs to the Starwood Hotels and Resorts group. It opened on November 4, 2016.[33] On the 6th floor, there is a spa area with a pool, saunas, and a fitness area, and on the 7th floor, there is a conference area and a restaurant for 170 guests. The lobby is located on the 8th floor and can be accessed from the public plaza and by elevator from the entrance area on the ground floor.

Dining: Located in the western part of the Kaispeicher, the brick base of the Elbphilharmonie, is the "Störtebeker" restaurant, operated by the Störtebeker Brewery in partnership with east Hotel & Restaurant GmbH across three floors. The 5th floor houses a restaurant and bar with seating for 220 guests, while the 6th floor features a shop and beer tasting area. A deli offering snacks and drinks is located on the Plaza on the 8th floor. In addition to the Störtebeker restaurant, further dining options are available in the hotel and the Elbphilharmonie concert hall.

Condominiums: In addition to the cultural use of the concert halls and the music education area, the building includes 45 upscale residential units, which, with purchase prices of up to 10 million euros, are among the most expensive in the city.

Parking Garage: In the former Kaispeicher warehouse, in addition to Kaistudio 1 and rooms for music education, there is also a parking garage with 433 spaces, 170 of which are reserved for hotel guests and owners of the condominiums. The parking garage operator is Apcoa Parking...
